Getting to Amerling Fountain
Amerling Fountain is situated in front of the old town, west of Pile Gate, outside of the city walls, on a square called Brsalje. On the same square is Dubravka restaurant in the bottom left corner, Dubravka gift shop in the top left corner and Nautika restaurant in the bottom right corner. Getting to the fountain is rather simple either by public transportation, taxi, or on foot.
By taxi and by Libertas public bus 5 and 8: you will be dropped off on the bus platform, by the big clock. Cross the street to your left in the direction of south. In a minute you should be in front of the fountain.
By Libertas public bus 1a, 1b, 1c, 2, 2a, 3, 4, 6, 9: As you exit the bus,move straight ahead towards Pile Gate for about 10 meters (30 feet), direction of SE and look to your right - you will see the Amerling Fountain there. WARNING: DO NOT GO DOWN THE STAIRS. Google Maps navigation places the Amerling fountain wrongly to Ulica Sv. Đurđa, down the stairs, which is about 100 meters (300 feet) away from the fountain. Remain on the flat area, from the bus to the fountain it’s about 20 seconds of walking.
From Pile Gate: As you exit the old town and Pile Gate, walk over the bridge and keep to the left. You will be walking past an ATM on the corner of the building to your left as well, and soon you should see the fountain to the left of you. From Pile Gate to the fountain it’s about 50 meters SW (160 feet), maximum 2 minutes of slow walk on foot (depending on the crowds).
From the direction of Ulica (Street) iza grada: Keep moving straight ahead in the direction of W - be mindful of the pedestrian crossing, ongoing traffic and pedestrian traffic lights (!!!). Don’t go towards Ulica Sv. Đurđa if you’re following Google Maps navigation because it takes you down the stairs and too far from the fountain. Remain on the plain, move straight ahead from the traffic lights and the fountain should be right in front of you. From the traffic lights to the fountain it’s about 30 meters W (90 feet), roughly 40 seconds of slow-paced walking.
